{"id":12753,"date":"2024-03-18T11:33:19","date_gmt":"2024-03-18T11:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yarmschool.org\/?p=12753"},"modified":"2024-03-18T11:34:43","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T11:34:43","slug":"bestselling-childrens-author-wows-local-school-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yarmschool.org\/news\/bestselling-childrens-author-wows-local-school-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Bestselling Children&#8217;s Author Wows Local School Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>¾ÅÁúͼ¿â was delighted to welcome Louie Stowell, author of the popular children\u2019s book series \u201cLoki: A Bad God\u2019s Guide to \u2026\u201d, who treated children from across the region to a VIP World Book Day appearance.<\/p>\n<p>During her visit, Louie met with over 500 pupils and teachers from ten schools across the region at Yarm\u2019s Princess Alexandra Auditorium, where she discussed the inspiration behind the series of novels and immersed her audience in the world of Norse mythology.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding:56.25% 0 0 0;position:relative;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/924572258?h=40f75eed56&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;\" title=\"¾ÅÁúͼ¿â - Author Visit - Louie Stowell\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/api\/player.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The interactive morning began with some storytelling, with Louie sharing her interpretation of Loki, God of Asgard, who, in her re-telling, was sent to earth in the form of an 11-year-old child.<\/p>\n<p>The visit, coordinated by Drake the Bookshop, was rounded off with a book signing session and an opportunity for the children to spend some one-on-one time with Louie.<\/p>\n<p>Louie Stowell said: \u201cI really want the children to have some joy in stories and in reading, and appreciate that reading never has to be a chore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReading has wildness and chaos to it, and often reading the forbidden and exciting book can be the most enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Boddy, Head of Co-curriculum and Partnerships at ¾ÅÁúͼ¿â said: \u201cAs an English teacher it has been wonderful to see so many children enjoy the idea of telling, reading and sharing stories, as stories are what makes us human beings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was great to see Yarm\u2019s auditorium full of children from schools across the region, making the most of this experience and World Book Day.
